TEXOMA SOUTHERN BAPTIST CHURCH

It took about 30 seconds late one Monday afternoon. Storm warnings had been cancelled but the tornado hit anyway and in 30 seconds our church buildings and parsonage just disappeared. We still wonder where all the metal folding chairs went. We had a pile of rubble but no lives were lost. We did not miss one service as our leaders quickly planned for alternate locations. But our testing wasn't over. Our pastor announced his retirement. We had to hire an independent adjustor to deal with the insurance woes. But God knew what we needed. Decades before a young man visited our church. He was not a member but he remembered us and called to help. His line of work? Business Architecture. And God led us to a wonderful construction company. One year after the tornado, we broke ground for our new building. Our community has rallied around us and our members have remained. The true church is not the building but those who believe and praise His name. The project is currently under construction and scheduled to be completed by the beginning of 2024.
